P&IDs Don't Read Themselves. Neither Should Your Estimating Team.

RenderDraw Takeoff extends AI drawing extraction to P&IDs and process schedules, built for EPC proposal teams racing bid-or-no-bid deadlines.

The bid-or-no-bid clock is shorter than the drawing set deserves

EPC Proposal Managers are measured on one thing above all: win rate against turnaround time. The faster and more accurately a team can price an RFQ, the more bids they can chase, and the more credible their numbers look when they land in front of a client. But P&IDs and instrumentation specs still get priced the way they always have, by an estimator manually tracing symbols and cross-referencing valve and instrumentation schedules line by line.

That's not a speed problem you fix by hiring more estimators. It's a translation problem. The information needed to price the job is already sitting in the drawing set. Getting it out and into a usable quantity list is where the hours go.

Where RenderDraw Takeoff fits into that process

RenderDraw Takeoff already reads BIM files, CAD drawings, and PDF blueprints across multiple trades and extracts structured line items from them, matching quantities against a product catalog and pushing a CPQ-ready quote downstream. Process drawings are a natural extension of that same core capability: structured, symbol-based documents that carry the same kind of extractable data as a mechanical schedule or a structural drawing.

We're working with early EPC conversations to validate that extraction against real P&ID sets, equipment lists, and instrumentation specs. The workflow doesn't change: upload the drawing, review the extracted quantities against source evidence, approve or correct, then hand off to whatever CRM, CPQ, or ERP system your estimating team already quotes from.

Why this matters for a proposal team specifically

An EPC firm doesn't win by being the cheapest. It wins by being fast enough to bid on more jobs and accurate enough that the number holds up through the full proposal cycle. Faster extraction means more RFQs get a serious look instead of a pass on turnaround alone. A structured, source-evidenced quantity list means less rework when a client pushes back on scope during negotiation.

Neither of those replaces the judgment of a Lead Estimator deciding how to price risk on a complex process package. What it does is get that estimator to the pricing decision faster, with a documented trail of where every quantity came from.

Where to start

If your estimating team is still tracing P&IDs by hand against a bid deadline, we'd like to run a pilot against three recent bid packets, no commitment beyond seeing what the extraction actually produces against your current process.
