Industrial electrical estimating, from cable schedule to termination.
Industrial jobs are driven by schedules as much as plans: cable and conduit schedules, MCC and instrument lists, tray layouts and termination counts. RenderDraw proposes quantities from plans and schedules with the source sheet attached, and puts low-confidence items in front of your estimator first.
Send one plan set. See what the AI extracts and what it flags for review. No obligation.
- Tray, conduit and cable schedules
- MCCs, VFDs, instruments
- Terminations and connections

What an industrial takeoff has to reconcile.
| Quantity | Source | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Cable tray by width and type | Tray layouts, sections | Fittings, supports, covers |
| Conduit and cable by tag | Conduit and cable schedules | Schedule vs. plan routing lengths |
| Motors, VFDs, MCC buckets | One-lines, MCC elevations, motor lists | Count mismatches between lists |
| Instruments and I/O | Instrument index, P&IDs, loop drawings | Who furnishes vs. installs |
| Terminations | Cable schedule conductor counts | Shielded and multi-conductor labor |
| Grounding | Grounding plans and details | Exothermic connections, test wells |
The quantities a electrical estimator actually needs
These are the items RenderDraw proposes from the drawings, each linked to the sheet it came from, for your estimator to accept, correct or reject.
| Item | What is measured or counted | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Devices | Receptacles, switches, data, fixtures by type against the legend | Power and lighting plans, legend |
| Lighting fixtures | Counts by fixture tag, controls and sensors | Lighting plans, fixture schedule |
| Branch & feeders | Conduit and wire lengths, homeruns, feeder sizes | Plans, one-line, panel schedules |
| Gear | Panels, switchboards, transformers, disconnects | One-line diagram, equipment schedules |
| Low voltage | Fire alarm, data drops, security devices | LV and FA plans, riser diagrams |
From plan set to reviewed quantities.
AI-powered, human-approved. Each stage records what ran, what changed and who approved it.
Start with your bid package
Drawings, specs and addenda together: power and lighting plans, the fixture schedule, panel schedules, the one-line and the Division 26 spec sections.
AI proposes quantities
Counts, lengths and areas come back with the source sheet and location attached to every row.
Estimator review
Low-confidence items surface first. Your estimator accepts, corrects or rejects each one.
Map to your assemblies
Approved quantities map to your items, assemblies and estimating assumptions.
Price reviewed rows
Labor units, material pricing and supplier quotes apply only to rows that passed review.
Hand off with evidence
Approved quantities move on to pricing and visual CPQ with the evidence trail still attached.
Supported files and tasks depend on your trade and implementation. Confirm them in the free sample run.
What we checked (November 2026)
- Cable tray code: NEC Article 392 covers cable tray systems. In the 2023 NEC, Section 392.22 sets how many cables a tray may hold, by cable type and tray type. A tray sized for the cable schedule's count can still fail fill once spares and future cables are added, so check that before you price tray widths.
- Code edition. NFPA 70 is published every three years. The 2026 edition reorganized many articles. Check which edition the authority having jurisdiction has adopted before you cite an article number in an RFI or qualification.
- Terminations (rule of thumb): price terminations per conductor from the cable schedule, not per cable. A 12-conductor shielded instrument cable with drain wires costs far more to terminate than a 3-conductor power cable of the same length.
- Furnished-by-others equipment. Motor, VFD and instrument lists often mark items "furnished by others, installed by EC". Count them for setting and termination labor, but not for material.
The AI drafts. Your estimator decides.
Speed is easy to promise. Defensible numbers are the job, so RenderDraw keeps the estimator in control of every quantity that gets priced.
- Source on every row. Each quantity keeps its source sheet, location and reviewer decision.
- Lowest confidence first. The review queue shows the drawing tile with the detection highlighted and the extracted value.
- Uncertain items flagged, not hidden. Anything the AI can't confirm goes to the estimator rather than being guessed.
- Nothing priced before approval. Rows move on to pricing only after they are accepted.

Questions estimators ask
What makes industrial electrical estimating different?
Heavier reliance on schedules (cable, conduit, instruments), more terminations and equipment connections, and stricter installation requirements.
Can RenderDraw read cable schedules?
It can propose quantities from schedule tables with the source attached. Reconciling schedule lengths against plan routing stays an estimator review step; test it on your own cable schedule in the free sample.
Does RenderDraw include labor units?
No. Labor units and pricing stay with your team; RenderDraw provides reviewed quantities.
What should we send?
Power and tray plans, one-lines, MCC elevations, cable and conduit schedules, instrument index and spec sections.
See what the AI reads on your own drawings.
Send one representative electrical plan set. RenderDraw reviews it and follows up with what the AI extracted and what it flagged for review. Your files remain private while the request is assessed, and there is no obligation.
- Upload power and lighting plans, the fixture schedule, panel schedules, the one-line and the Division 26 spec sections.
- RenderDraw reviews the set and the scope you want tested.
- We follow up with extracted quantities, flagged items and next steps.
