Utilities

Utility estimating software for wet and dry utilities.

Utility bids lose margin on depth, fittings and structures that hide in profiles and tables. RenderDraw proposes pipe by size and material, structures and fittings from utility plans and profiles, with every row traceable.

What gets taken off

The quantities a sitework estimator actually needs

These are the items RenderDraw proposes from the drawings, each linked to the sheet it came from, for your estimator to accept, correct or reject.

How it works

From plan set to reviewed quantities.

AI-powered, human-approved. Each stage records what ran, what changed and who approved it.

Start with your bid package

Drawings, specs and addenda together: site, grading, paving and utility plans with profiles, typical sections and the civil spec or standard details.

AI proposes quantities

Counts, lengths and areas come back with the source sheet and location attached to every row.

Estimator review

Low-confidence items surface first. Your estimator accepts, corrects or rejects each one.

Map to your assemblies

Approved quantities map to your items, assemblies and estimating assumptions.

Price reviewed rows

Labor units, material pricing and supplier quotes apply only to rows that passed review.

Hand off with evidence

Approved quantities move on to pricing and visual CPQ with the evidence trail still attached.

Supported files and tasks depend on your trade and implementation. Confirm them in the free sample run.

Fact check

What we checked (November 2026)

  • Trench protection (OSHA 29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1)): every worker in an excavation must be protected from cave-ins by a protective system: sloping, benching, shoring or shields. There are two exceptions: excavations entirely in stable rock, and excavations less than 5 ft deep where a competent person finds no sign of a potential cave-in. Sloping and benching designs that don't use the standard's options must be approved by a registered professional engineer.
  • Price protection by depth from the profile. Profiles show invert depth by station. Break trench LF into depth bands (0–5, 5–10, 10–15 ft and so on), because the protective system, excavation volume and production rate all change with depth.
  • Structures: count manholes and inlets by type and depth (rim minus invert). Depth drives barrel sections, steps and cost.
Worked example (illustrative)
8" PVC sewer, STA 0+00 to 6+00: inverts 8.2 ft to 11.6 ft deep LF 0-200: 8-9 ft; 200-450: 9-10.5 ft; 450-600: 10.5-11.6 ft -> trench box for all 600 LF (over 5 ft)
Human review, by design

The AI drafts. Your estimator decides.

Speed is easy to promise. Defensible numbers are the job, so RenderDraw keeps the estimator in control of every quantity that gets priced.

  • Source on every row. Each quantity keeps its source sheet, location and reviewer decision.
  • Lowest confidence first. The review queue shows the drawing tile with the detection highlighted and the extracted value.
  • Uncertain items flagged, not hidden. Anything the AI can't confirm goes to the estimator rather than being guessed.
  • Nothing priced before approval. Rows move on to pricing only after they are accepted.

FAQ

Questions estimators ask

What is utility estimating software?

Software for quantifying and pricing underground utilities.

Can it read profiles?

RenderDraw reads plan and profile sheets and proposes runs and structures for review.

What about depth?

Depth ranges come from profiles and drive trench pricing.

What should we send?

Utility plans, profiles, structure tables and details.

Start small

See what the AI reads on your own drawings.

Send one representative sitework plan set. RenderDraw reviews it and follows up with what the AI extracted and what it flagged for review. Your files remain private while the request is assessed, and there is no obligation.

  1. Upload site, grading, paving and utility plans with profiles, typical sections and the civil spec or standard details.
  2. RenderDraw reviews the set and the scope you want tested.
  3. We follow up with extracted quantities, flagged items and next steps.
