Salesforce CPQ vs. Revenue Cloud Advanced: what's changing.
Salesforce's quoting products have changed. Classic Salesforce CPQ (from the Steelbrick acquisition) is now end of sale for new customers, though not end of life. Revenue Cloud Advanced (RCA), which Salesforce earlier called Revenue Lifecycle Management, is the successor. Here's what Salesforce says about the change, how the two products differ, and what manufacturers should plan before migrating.

What Salesforce announced
Per Salesforce's July 2026 article on the change:
- Salesforce CPQ is end of sale, not end of life. New customers can't buy CPQ licenses. Existing customers can keep using it, renew, add users and get support.
- No end-of-life date has been announced. CPQ is in a maintenance phase, with support and critical fixes but no new feature development.
- No forced migration.
- Revenue Cloud Advanced is the successor, with new investment going to RCA and Revenue Cloud Billing.
- Revenue Lifecycle Management (RLM) was an earlier name for the product now called Revenue Cloud Advanced.
The Salesforce quoting family
| Product | Architecture | Status (Nov 2026) | Good fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Salesforce CPQ | Managed package on top of Salesforce; quote-centric | End of sale; supported for existing customers | Existing CPQ customers not ready to migrate |
| Industries CPQ (Vlocity lineage) | Industry-cloud CPQ | Check with Salesforce for your industry cloud | Communications, media, energy and similar industries |
| Revenue Cloud Advanced | Native to Salesforce core; API-first, headless and composable | Strategic product | New implementations and migrations |
Salesforce lists RCA capabilities as an enterprise product catalog, pricing, quoting, constraint-based configuration rules, contracting, order management, asset lifecycle, amendments and renewals. Revenue Cloud Billing is a separate, complementary product.
Published
Salesforce's sales pricing page lists Revenue Cloud from $200 per user per month (November 2026). Expect a quote based on edition, add-ons such as billing, and volume.
What to plan
- Timeline: Salesforce says a typical migration runs 3–6 months from discovery to go-live, and complex implementations take longer.
- Data doesn't map 1:1: CPQ-specific objects, custom fields, price rules and scripts need a structured migration and transformation.
- Rethink, don't port: product rules move to constraint-based configuration, and approvals to flow-based approval tools. Use the move to retire rules nobody owns.
- Catalog first: clean product, bundle and attribute data before you rebuild rules.
- Certifications are changing: Salesforce is retiring the CPQ Administrator certification on February 1, 2027, and points candidates to the Revenue Management Consultant exam.
Stay or move
- Stay on CPQ for now if it works, your catalog is stable, and you have no new channel or pricing-model needs. Plan a review date.
- Move to RCA if you're adding subscription, usage or multi-channel selling, need APIs or headless quoting, or are already re-implementing.
- Either way, document your product rules, price rules and approvals now. That inventory is the largest migration task.
On top
For manufacturers of configurable products, the engine (CPQ or RCA) handles rules and pricing. A visual layer shows buyers and reps what they're configuring. RenderDraw provides 2D and 3D configurators and workflows that hand off to CPQ, pricing and Salesforce, including Agentforce quotes. Available integrations depend on implementation. Book a demo.
