Salesforce vs. HubSpot quoting: quotes vs. CPQ.

Both CRMs can produce quotes from products and price books. The difference shows when products need configuration rules, complex pricing or visuals. That's where dedicated CPQ (and visual CPQ) comes in.

Fact check

What we checked (November 2026)

  • Salesforce (November 2026):
    • Salesforce CPQ (formerly Steelbrick) is end of sale to new customers. It is not end of life: existing customers keep support and can renew.
    • Revenue Cloud Advanced is the successor, with an attribute-based catalog and constraint-based configuration.
  • HubSpot (November 2026):
    • Quotes and CPQ are sold as Revenue Hub.
    • Newer quotes support price books and stair-step, graduated and volume tiered pricing.
    • Standard approvals are included. Advanced approvals and quote rules need Revenue Hub Enterprise.
    • E-signature is available, and AI-assisted quote drafting is offered.
    • Legacy Sales Hub quotes lack price books and tiered pricing.
  • Gotcha: neither tool's standard quoting enforces engineering-level product constraints (which options are compatible, dimensional limits). That's what a product configurator adds, whichever CRM you use.

Decision checklist

  1. Where does the opportunity live today? Moving CRMs for quoting alone is rarely worth it.
  2. How complex are the products? SKU-based bundles fit either platform. Engineered or dimensional products need a configurator, whichever CRM you use.
  3. Pricing: do you need tiered pricing, multiple price books, contracted pricing or multi-currency?
  4. Approvals: do you need a simple discount approval, or workflow rules (HubSpot Enterprise tier; Salesforce approvals or flows)?
  5. Partners: do dealers or reps outside your company quote? Check portal licensing on each platform.
  6. Salesforce CPQ status: if you're new to Salesforce, plan on Revenue Cloud Advanced rather than CPQ, which is end of sale.
FAQ

Questions estimators ask

Is HubSpot quoting enough?

For simple catalogs, often yes. Configured products with rules usually need CPQ.

Does Salesforce have CPQ?

Yes: Salesforce CPQ and Revenue Cloud products.

Does RenderDraw integrate with Salesforce?

Yes, via RenderDraw for Revenue Cloud.

Does RenderDraw integrate with HubSpot?

RenderDraw's published integrations center on Salesforce (RenderDraw for Revenue Cloud, Part Finder, CAD Tools). Its configurator can also hand off to an external CPQ through server-side validation and a signed webhook; ask RenderDraw whether that fits your HubSpot setup.

Which is better for engineered products?

Neither CRM's standard quoting enforces engineering constraints by itself. For dimensional or highly configurable products, pair the CRM with a configurator that validates options and passes a valid configuration to the quote.

Is Salesforce CPQ still sold?

Salesforce says CPQ is end of sale, not end of life: new customers can't buy it, but existing customers can renew, add users and get support. New investment goes to Revenue Cloud Advanced.

What do HubSpot quotes require?

HubSpot's knowledge base says the newer quotes (CPQ) need an assigned Revenue Hub seat (some help pages still say Commerce Hub) to set up, create or edit quotes. Advanced approvals and quote rules are Revenue Hub Enterprise features. Legacy Sales Hub quotes still exist, but their templates can't be transferred to the newer quotes.
