Same scope, comparable numbers
Bid leveling turns proposals with different scopes into comparable numbers. The low bid is often low because it excludes something. The template lists every required scope item as a row, records each bidder's price and whether they included the item, and applies a plug (your estimate of the cost) where a bidder excluded something required. The leveled total is what each bid would cost if it covered the full scope.
- Scope item and required. From the spec and drawings, not from the first proposal you open.
- Bidder price and included? Y or N per bidder.
- Plug for missing. Your estimate for the item, applied where a bidder said N.
- Notes. Clarifications, alternates, qualifications.

Where RenderDraw fits
RenderDraw's AI takeoff gives you a reviewed quantity baseline with source references, so scope gaps in bidder proposals are easier to spot. The comparison itself happens in a sheet like this one. The template here is a good way to see the structure that workflow fills.
Spend your hours on scope and price, not re-counting.
RenderDraw's AI takeoff reads drawings, schedules and specs, proposes quantities with the source sheet attached, and holds uncertain items for estimator review before anything is priced.
- Source on every quantity. Each count, length and area keeps its source sheet and location.
- Lowest confidence first. The review queue puts the items most likely to be wrong at the top.
- Addenda through the same review. Send the changed sheets through takeoff and estimator review, then reprice what moved.
- Approval before pricing. Nothing moves on to pricing until an estimator accepts it.

Send one plan set
Pick a real job with an addendum. Sample files stay private while RenderDraw assesses the request, and there is no obligation to proceed.
RenderDraw does not publish accuracy percentages or time-saved claims. Test it on your own plan set.
Questions estimators ask.
What is bid leveling in construction?
Comparing bids on the same scope by noting what each bidder included and excluded and adding plugs for missing items, so the totals are comparable.
Is the bid leveling template free?
Yes. Download the XLSX or CSV.
What is a plug in bid leveling?
Your estimate of the cost of a scope item a bidder excluded, added to that bidder's total for comparison.
Should I always pick the lowest leveled bid?
Leveled price is one factor. Schedule, qualifications, safety record and capacity also matter.
Does RenderDraw do bid leveling?
Not as a core feature. RenderDraw's product focus is AI takeoff with estimator review and the handoff to pricing and visual CPQ; its reviewed quantities give you a baseline to level sub bids against in this template. Book a demo.
