Manually. Everything you just measured, re-entered into a different format, a different system, hoping nothing gets transposed.
That gap — between takeoff and bid — is where RFPs are won or lost. And right now, almost no one has solved it.
The Real Cost of the Manual Handoff
When contractors talk about their RFP process, the complaint isn't usually the proposal itself. It's the journey to get there.
A typical RFP response for a mid-size commercial project involves:
A takeoff (anywhere from 4–20 hours depending on scope)
Manual data re-entry into estimating software or spreadsheets
Pricing lookups pulled from separate catalogs or supplier quotes
Formatting the final proposal from a template that hasn't been updated since 2019
One more review pass to catch the errors that crept in during all that manual work
By the time the RFP goes out, you've burned two to three times the hours the takeoff required — just to package what you already calculated.
And if the scope changes? You start over.
Why This Problem Has Lasted So Long
The tools contractors use today were built in silos. Takeoff software handles measurements. Estimating software handles pricing. Proposal tools handle documents. Nobody built the bridge between them.
PlanSwift, STACK, Bluebeam — solid tools in their lane. But none of them close the loop from takeoff to RFP-ready output. The contractor is still the integration layer, doing by hand what should happen automatically.
That's the gap RenderDraw is closing.
What's Coming
RenderDraw is building a platform where your takeoff doesn't end with a spreadsheet — it ends with a proposal.
Upload the drawings. Define the scope. The platform reads the plans, extracts the quantities, maps them to your materials and labor, and generates an RFP-ready output you can submit, customize, or send for approval.
For the contractors we're building for — fire protection, HVAC, roofing, and general construction — this means:
Fire protection contractors can go from uploaded plans to a sprinkler head count, pipe schedule, and bid package without re-entering a single number.
HVAC contractors can pull duct runs, equipment schedules, and labor estimates out of mechanical drawings and have a proposal structure ready before the next job walks in the door.
Roofing contractors can measure square footage, ridge lines, valleys, and penetrations from aerial or plan view and turn that directly into a materials and labor estimate formatted for the GC's RFP requirements.
General contractors can tie subcontractor scopes together, track quantities across trades, and produce coordinated bid packages in a fraction of the time.
The Teaser Is the Problem
