Rebar takeoff spreadsheet for Excel
A clean rebar estimating workbook: one row per element and bar mark, with the sheet reference, bar size, counts, length and lap allowance. Weights come from an ASTM A615 lookup and roll up into a summary by bar size.
- ASTM A615 weight lookup
- Laps and hooks per row
- Summary by bar size
- Sheet references for audit

Rebar takeoff spreadsheet (XLSX + CSV)
No email required. The Excel file has working formulas, drop-downs and a "How to use" tab. The CSV holds the main sheet for import into other tools. Example rows are synthetic; replace them with your job.
What's inside
- Rebar takeoff. 13 columns, totals row, built-in formulas.
- Weights. 4 columns.
- Summary by size. 6 columns, totals row, built-in formulas.
How to use it
- List each element type once with its count, bars per element and bar length from the schedule or detail.
- Enter lap splices and hooks as an added length per bar, per your structural notes.
- Unit weights fill from the Weights sheet; the summary rolls up LF and tons by bar size.
| Sheet / detail | Element | Mark | Bar size (#) | Qty of elements | Bars per element | Bar length (ft) | Lap/hook add (ft) | Total LF | Unit wt (lb/ft) | Weight (lb) | Coating | Notes / RFI |

One row per element and mark
A rebar takeoff falls apart when rows mix several bar sizes or several elements, because nobody can trace a total back to the drawings. This workbook uses one row per element type and bar mark: for example, "F1 footing, bottom mat, #5 long way." Each row carries the sheet or detail it came from, so a checker or a revised drawing can be traced line by line.
- Sheet / detail. Where the quantity came from. The most valuable column in any takeoff.
- Qty of elements × bars per element × (length + lap/hook). Gives total linear feet.
- Unit weight. Looked up from the Weights sheet by bar size (ASTM A615 nominal lb/ft).
- Coating. Black, epoxy or galvanized, so you can price coated bars separately.
- Summary by size. Pounds and tons by bar size with SUMIF formulas, ready for a supplier quote.

Set up marks
List footing, wall, slab, beam and column types from the schedules, one row per bar set.
Count from the plans
Enter the number of each element from the plans, and check counts against the grid.
Add lengths and laps
Bar lengths from dimensions minus cover; laps and hooks from typical details and the lap schedule.
Review the summary
Check tons by size against similar jobs, then send for pricing.
Where RenderDraw helps
Spreadsheets are transparent and portable, which is why so many rebar estimators still use them. The slow part is filling them: finding every element, counting it, and reading the reinforcement callouts. RenderDraw's AI takeoff proposes those counts and callouts from the plan set with the source sheet attached, so you can review and paste rather than measure. The output can be exported and checked against this workbook.
Rebar and concrete quantities you can trace back to the sheet.
RenderDraw's AI takeoff proposes counts, lengths and areas from structural drawings and schedules, keeps the source on every row, and holds uncertain items for estimator review.
- Footing, slab and wall schedules read in context. Quantities stay linked to the schedule and plan that produced them.
- Review queue sorted by confidence. Work the questionable items first.
- Addenda through the same review. Send the changed sheets back through takeoff and estimator review.
- Estimator approval before pricing. Laps, waste, accessories and labor stay with you.

Send one structural set
Include the foundation plan and schedules. Files stay private while RenderDraw assesses the request. No obligation.
RenderDraw does not publish accuracy percentages or time-saved claims. Test it on your own plan set.
Questions estimators ask.
Is this rebar takeoff spreadsheet free?
Yes. Download the XLSX or CSV from this page and use it on your projects. No sign-up is required.
Which bar weights does it use?
ASTM A615 nominal weights per foot for #3 through #11, #14 and #18 on the Weights sheet. You can edit the table for metric bars.
Does it work in Google Sheets?
Yes. Upload the XLSX to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets. The formulas use standard functions.
How do I add laps and hooks?
Enter the lap or hook length per bar in the "Lap/hook add" column for that row, from the typical details and lap schedule.
Can RenderDraw fill this in for me?
