Tile estimate template (XLSX + CSV)
No email required. The Excel file has working formulas, drop-downs and a "How to use" tab. The CSV holds the main sheet for import into other tools. Example rows are synthetic; replace them with your job.
What's inside
- Tile estimate. 13 columns, totals row, drop-down lists, built-in formulas.
- Setting materials. 4 columns.
How to use it
- List each finish area with its tile code from the finish schedule.
- Apply waste after net area, then round to whole boxes.
- Use the setting materials sheet for mortar, grout and membranes per manufacturer data.
| Room / area | Finish code | Net SF | Layout | Waste % | Order SF | SF per box | Boxes | Price / box | Material $ | Setting rate (SF/hr) | Labor hrs | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Restroom 101 floor | PT-1 | 182 | Straight | 0.1 | ƒ formula | 13.56 | ƒ formula | 0 | ƒ formula | 0 | ƒ formula | Example row |
| Restroom 101 walls | CT-2 | 410 | Straight | 0.1 | ƒ formula | 10.76 | ƒ formula | 0 | ƒ formula | 0 | ƒ formula | Example |

Waste depends on layout
Tile waste is not one number. A straight lay of large-format porcelain in a big room wastes little; a herringbone in a small bathroom wastes a lot. The template puts the layout and waste percentage on each row, so each room carries the waste it actually needs. Boxes round up from order square feet and box coverage, and labor hours come from net square feet and your setting rate for that tile and layout.
- Room / area and finish code. Ties back to the finish schedule.
- Net SF and layout. From the takeoff; layout drives waste.
- Order SF, boxes, material. Formulas.
- Setting rate and labor hours. Your production by tile size and layout.
- Setting materials. Thinset, grout and membranes by coverage from the manufacturer charts.
From plan to order
List rooms
One row per room and finish code; walls and floors as separate rows.
Set layout and waste
Straight, offset, diagonal or herringbone, with your waste.
Price and set labor
Box price and your setting rate.
Add setting materials
Thinset, grout and membrane by coverage.
Drawings or MeasurePro
On new construction, RenderDraw's AI takeoff proposes areas by finish code from the drawings. On remodels without drawings, RenderDraw MeasurePro (iPhone and iPad) captures rooms with LiDAR or tap-to-capture and exports room data as CSV; check its units and convert square meters to square feet (× 10.7639) if needed before pasting into the template.
Finish areas and transitions, room by room.
RenderDraw's AI takeoff proposes finish polygons, transitions and base from floor plans and the finish schedule, links each quantity to its sheet, and holds uncertain items for estimator review.
- Finish polygons by room. Each area carries the finish code from the schedule.
- Transitions and base as linear quantities. Captured alongside the areas.
- Addenda through the same review. Send the changed sheets back through takeoff and estimator review.
- Waste and pricing stay yours. Apply your waste factors, labor and margin to reviewed rows.

Include the finish schedule. Files stay private while RenderDraw assesses the request. No obligation.
RenderDraw does not publish accuracy percentages or time-saved claims. Test it on your own plan set.
Questions estimators ask.
Is the tile estimate template free?
Yes. Download the XLSX or CSV from this page.
How much waste should I use for tile?
It depends on tile size, layout and room shape. Use your own history; the template puts waste on each row so you can vary it.
How do I estimate tile labor?
Divide net square feet by your setting rate for the tile size and layout. The template calculates labor hours per row.
Can I import MeasurePro measurements?
Check the units in the MeasurePro CSV. If areas are in square meters, multiply by 10.7639 for square feet, then paste into the Net SF column.
Can RenderDraw do tile takeoffs?
RenderDraw's AI takeoff proposes areas by finish code from drawings with sources. Request a free sample takeoff.
Fill the estimate from the finish plan.
Send a set with finish plans. RenderDraw proposes areas by finish code, base and transitions with their sheets.
- Upload the plans, specs and schedules, plus an addendum if you have one.
- RenderDraw reviews the set and the scope you want tested.
- We follow up with extracted quantities, flagged items and next steps.
