RenderDraw AI Takeoffs

Takeoffs on a Mac or iPad, without the workarounds.

A lot of classic takeoff software was built for Windows. If your team runs on Macs or iPads, the options are browser-based tools, running Windows software another way, or splitting the work: field measurement on iPad, and takeoff where it runs best. Here's what actually runs where, as of November 2026.

What's supported

On Apple silicon Macs (M1 and later), Microsoft names two routes. Parallels Desktop versions 18, 19 and 20 are authorized to run Arm versions of Windows 11 Pro and Enterprise. Windows 365 streams a Windows 11 Cloud PC. The Arm version of Windows 11 has limits, including with apps that rely on DirectX 12, so test your takeoff tool before you commit.

Bluebeam documents three Mac routes: Bluebeam on web (Studio Sessions and Projects, markups in the browser), Revu under Parallels ("best for Mac users who need all Revu features"), and the Bluebeam iOS app installed on a Mac from the App Store.

Worked example

Cost of the Parallels route

Illustrative: 3 estimators on MacBook Pros keeping a Windows takeoff tool
Takeoff license (existing): unchanged
Virtualization software: per-seat subscription (check Parallels pricing)
Windows 11 Pro license: per seat
RAM: plan 16 GB+ so the Mac and Windows VM can both handle large plan sets
IT time: setup, updates, backups of the VM
Compare against: one browser tool subscription per seat

The right answer depends on how much you've invested in assemblies and history in the Windows tool. Migrating that data is often the real cost.

On iPad and iPhone

Measure existing rooms with MeasurePro

MeasurePro is RenderDraw's room measurement app for iPhone and iPad (iOS/iPadOS 17.6+), and it also runs on Macs with Apple M1 or later. Capture with LiDAR or tap-to-capture, correct the room, and export PDF, CSV, JSON or USDZ. There's no account needed for local work. Download MeasurePro on the App Store

Plan-set takeoff

Evaluate AI takeoff with nothing to install

  1. Upload files. Send a legible PDF drawing set, the most reliable starting point, through the free sample request from any browser; confirm any other file types there.
  2. Review the results. See what was extracted, with the source sheet on every row.
  3. Plan the setup. Ask how the full workflow would run for your team and devices.
Evaluate on your drawings

Run one bid side by side.

Pick a real job

Choose a recent bid with the plan set, legend, schedules and at least one addendum.

Build a baseline

Have an estimator check the quantities you want to test.

Run it side by side

Run the same set through your current tool and through a RenderDraw sample.

Score misses and review time

Record missed items, wrong inclusions and the time spent correcting each result.

Your sample files remain private while we assess the request. There is no obligation to proceed.

FAQ

Questions estimators ask.

Is there takeoff software for Mac?

Yes. Browser-based tools such as ConstructConnect Takeoff, zzTakeoff, STACK, Kreo and Autodesk Forma Takeoff run on a Mac. PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff and Bluebeam Revu are Windows desktop software.

Can I run Bluebeam Revu on a Mac?

Not natively. Bluebeam says Revu isn't supported on Macs, but you can use Bluebeam on web, the Bluebeam iOS app on a Mac, or Revu inside Windows 11 under Parallels.

Can I run Windows takeoff software on an M-series Mac?

Often, yes. Microsoft authorizes Parallels Desktop 18, 19 and 20 to run Arm Windows 11 Pro and Enterprise on M1, M2 and M3 Macs, or you can use a Windows 365 Cloud PC. Test your specific tool first.

Can I do takeoffs on an iPad?

You can review PDFs and do simple measurements on an iPad. For existing rooms, MeasurePro measures on site. Full plan-set takeoff is usually easier on a larger screen.

Do I need Windows to try RenderDraw?

No. A sample takeoff starts from files you upload in a browser.

Is MeasurePro a plan takeoff app?

No. MeasurePro measures existing rooms. Drawing-based takeoff is a separate RenderDraw workflow.

Start small

Send one plan set. Judge the result yourself.

A focused, no-obligation evaluation on your own drawings. Your sample files remain private while we assess the request.

  1. Upload one representative plan set (a legible PDF set is the most reliable starting point), plus an addendum if you have one.
  2. RenderDraw reviews the set and the scope you want tested.
  3. We follow up with what was extracted, what was flagged for review, and the most useful next step.

We checked this guide against the standards, manufacturer documents and industry references below (last reviewed November 2026). Figures marked as rules of thumb are typical ranges, not requirements; your project documents, local code and your own cost history govern.
